Summer 2008

Onda Art Gallery (www.ondagallery.com) is permanently representing ARCESIO in Oregon, which obviously means that he is now sketching, painting and creating artworks 24/7 with the help of double espresso shots and divine inspiration!! Mauricio is now spending time in Victoria, British Columbia, exploring the islands, hiking, camping, communing with Mother Nature and sampling the local treats and flavors.

Spring 2008

"The snow falls, each flake in its appropriate place."

                                        - Zen saying

Yes. Spring in the Northwest!! It's another reminder that "behind the sometimes seemingly random or even chaotic succession of events in our lives as well as in the world, lies concealed the unfolding of a higher order and purpose."

                              - from an excerpt in A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

Mauricio is getting ready to unveil new paintings at two upcoming art exhibits in Portland and Lake Oswego, OR, in June-July, 2008. Mauricio has also been recently commissioned to design the poster and central image for the 2008 Portland Latin American Film Festival (http://www.pdxlaff.org), and has been invited as a guest artist to participate in the 2008 International Biennial of Contemporary Art at the The Universidad Autónoma Chapingo, Texcoco, Mexico. (http://www.bienalchapingo.com)!

February, 2008

According to Mayan and Toltec legend, the Caribbean Gods and Goddesses needed to be worshipped constantly and mostly on clear, hot, sunny, blue-sky days. Mauricio is seriously interested in researching this Mayan tradition and how it affected their lifestyle so he's now spending time in Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula, visiting Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba and Xel-Ha, looking to find a meaningful explanation and a connection between white-sand beaches, aquamarine crystal clear waters, 92-degree temperatures, succulent, mouth-watering seafood, mohito drinks, strawberry margaritas, pina coladas, solera-rum cocktails...and why the Mayans loved to live in a place like this !!

January, 2008

"When you are on a journey, the only thing that is ultimately real about it is the step that you are taking at this moment. That's all there ever is. Time is what keeps the light from reaching us. Presence is the reality that dissolves the illusion of the past and the future. Die to the past every moment, the present moment is all we ever have. Step out of the time dimension as much as possible in everyday life. There is no greater obstacle to God than time"
- - Meister Eckhart, 13th-century Spiritual Teacher

...and a tribute to all of 2007:

After a successful experience at the Florence Biennale 2007, Mauricio is now exploring the Tuscan landscape visiting tiny out-of-the-way, unknown churches in Siena, Asciano, San Gimignano, Montereggioni, Lucca and Venice.......in which the paintings and frescoes hypnotize and absolutely blow one's mind away!! With no deadlines, no schedules and no road map to worry about, it definitely feels like being a little kid in a 24-hour-a-day immense Italian candy store !!

December, 2007

New Art Exhibit: 2007 Biennale Internazionale Dell' Arte Contemporanea, in Florence, December 1-9, 2007 at the Fortezza da Basso, Firenze - Italia.
